The Clinician

About The Clinician - Irem Franco, LCSW

Helping others has always felt like a natural part of who I am. Like many people drawn to this work, my path into social work and psychology was shaped by my own life experiences and a desire to understand people more fully, myself included. What began as a personal journey toward growth became a commitment to walking alongside others as they navigate life’s challenges and work toward meaningful change. I know how powerful it is to feel safe, seen, and understood, especially during difficult seasons. Creating a supportive, nonjudgmental space where healing can unfold is something I care deeply about. It’s a privilege for me to help clients reconnect with their inner strengths, build resilience, and move forward in ways that feel authentic to them. My clinical work is rooted in compassion and a client-centered, collaborative approach. I draw from a range of evidence-based and integrative modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based practices, and culturally responsive therapy. We break things down, work on building insight, and creating practical steps for change. My professional journey has allowed me to work across many settings and stages of life. I’ve supported children and families in early intervention, worked in a psychiatric hospital setting which is near and dear to my heart, partnered with students and staff in schools, and provided care in outpatient community mental health clinics. These experiences shaped my understanding of mental health across the lifespan and deepened my appreciation for the many systems that influence well-being. In 2019, I began exploring private practice alongside my community work, and in 2023, I made the full-time transition to private practice which allowed me to offer more individualized, intentional care. I work with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults, and I approach my work through a trauma-informed lens, using evidence-based, trauma-focused interventions. I am committed to ongoing learning and staying informed about current research in psychology and public health to best serve my clients. As a Latinx therapist working closely with the BIPOC community, I am aware of the ways mental health, culture, and social justice intersect. I’m especially passionate about understanding how environment, community, and lived experiences shape emotional well-being. I believe this work has the power to reduce disparities in care, honor cultural strengths, and support lasting healing not just for individuals, but for families and communities as a whole.
